Pricing FAQ

Can I use UtilityAPI for free?

Yes, registering for an account, sending data requests to utility account holders, and collecting Meter Data upon authorization are all free activities.

Demo data and meters are also available via our dashboard and APIs so you can test out our products.

Are there additional charges for using your API?

Nope, our APIs are free and publically available to everyone via our API documentation. We recommend starting with our quickstart guide.

What is UtilityAPI’s pricing model?

We use two pricing models to charge for collecting your customer’s utility data from each meter connected to us: per collection and per month of data.

We charge per collection for the initial and automated collection of data associated with a customer’s individual meter.

Initial collections are called Historical Collections and include at least twelve (12) months of available data but may include up to twenty-four (24) months. We charge your payment method or your account balance for historical collections as they occur.

Automated collections from individual meters are called Ongoing Monitoring, and they can be scheduled in a monthly, weekly, or daily frequency. We charge your payment method or account balance for ongoing monitoring collections each month.

Per month of data collected

We charge per month of data for the manual re-collection of customer Bill, Interval, and Accounting data.

Manual re-collections are called Refreshes and, by default, collect all available data since your most recent historical collection. We charge your payment method or your account balance for refreshes as they occur.

How much do Historical collections cost?

The cost of Historical Collections is based on your current payment plan. The table below shows the cost of completing a historical collection for one (1) meter.
